Instructor: Erica von Schilgen
Erica's background in studio art and sculpture has made her an excellent hand builder and she has been honing her skills for years. Now we are excited to offer this specialty class focusing in hand building only (no wheel work) for anyone looking to push their skills in this area. Hand building techniques are anything that you make that does not require a pottery wheel and include the use of slabs, coils, pinching, & press molds plus all the millions of surface techniques clay offers. Come join this fun class and explore the world of hand building!
This class covers handbuilding only. There will be no pottery wheel work.
Adult classes are for freshman in high school and older and include: one 25 lb. bag of white or red stoneware clay; 24/7 studio access via an Open Studio Hours signup sheet; all glazes and firings
You will need a basic 8-piece tool kit. You can buy one at the studio for $28 or order one before you start class. We like the Kemper kit from dickblick.com or TheCeramicShop.com.
