Mud Mayhem and Mastery Season 2: Deck of Destiny is here!
This will be another summer of skill-building and light-hearted challenges on the wheel and in handbuilding, but with a twist.

This season will be project-based, but each week we’ll draw cards from the Deck of Destiny to determine the parameters of our project at random. The only thing we’ll know in advance is whether we are wheelthrowing or handbuilding. The cards will decide our make methods, clay weight, form goals, size goals, and more.

As in Season 1, we’ll be focused on technical challenges, overcoming hurdles, and growing our overall pottery expertise. We’ll focus on some of the common challenges we all face as our skills grow, and we’ll learn to trust our instincts and develop our artistic voices on and off of the wheel.

Of course, there will be Mayhem! The Deck of Destiny will give each project a set of stretch goals to help us test our progress. Expect challenges in height, width, clay weight, speed, consistency, and more! Treat these as personal challenges only, or those who would like to make it a friendly competition are welcome to do so. There may be another trophy involved…

Adult classes are for freshman in high school and older and include: one 25 lb. bag of white or red stoneware clay; 24/7 studio access via an Open Studio Hours signup sheet; all glazes and firings.

You will need a basic 8-piece tool kit. You can buy one at the studio for $28 or order one before you start class. We like the Kemper kit from dickblick.com or TheCeramicShop.com.
