Sean Lutz is a Massachusetts born ceramic artist and educator based in Medford, Massachusetts. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Lesley University and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Ceramics from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

He currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member and Ceramic Studio Supervisor at Lesley University, where he teaches ceramics and mentors undergraduate students in the Studio Arts Department.

In 2025, Sean completed a one month artist residency at the Khmer Pottery Village in Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia, where he researched traditional pottery villages and their continued production in the aftermath of the Khmer Rouge genocide and amid rapid industrial development.

His work, which is wheel thrown, deconstructed and reassembled, then finished with glaze or atmospheric soda firing, explores themes of family history, memory, and queer identity.

When he's not working in the studio, he's likely tending to his garden....or wishing it were warm enough to do so.
