Looking to do something new for date night? Always wanted to try pottery? Already a ceramics enthusiast looking to get your significant other hooked? Whatever your reasons, this one-night class is for the couples by a couple! Grab your boyfriend, your girlfriend, or even your best friend and join The Clay School instructor, Kim Allison, and her husband, Kyle Day, for a fun night of making with clay.
Each student will have the chance to create their own hand-built mug (we won’t be using the wheel in this class) so that couples can take home a matching—or mismatched, your choice!—set. We’ll walk you step by step through the process of turning a hunk of clay into a finished pot for your favorite hot or cold drink. Finished mugs will be food, microwave, and dishwasher safe.
Students will need to return approximately two weeks after class to pick up their finished pieces. Pots made in class need to dry slowly and then be fired in a kiln twice before they are ready to use. Students will be able to select a glaze from a limited color palette that the instructors will apply to complete the piece after it has been through the first, “bisque” firing. We will notify you when your pots are ready to be picked up!
